Coach Tips: Essential Swimming Dos and Don'ts for Improved Breathing

It can be difficult to master, but improving your breathing technique will make a huge difference in your swimming. In contrast to other endurance sports like running and biking, swimmers have to have control over their breath and coordinate it with their movement through the water.



Breathing in coordination with your swimming will allow you to maintain a consistent rhythm while you swim, minimize your drag while breathing, and actually increase the speed of your stroke. What's more, learning to breathe properly will be a game changer if you are a swimmer who experiences breathlessness and anxiety in the water around your breathing.
