2024 Year in Review: What We Launched
With 2024 coming to a close, it’s been a big year for the FORM team!
By the time we reached April 2nd of this year, it had been 4 years, 7 months, and 26 days since we launched our industry-defining augmented reality smart swim goggles.
Launching FORM Smart Swim 2
Proving that good things are well and truly worth the wait, there’s no better place to start when looking back to launching our FORM Smart Swim 2 goggles to rave reviews from high-profile publications and reviewers, including DC Rainmaker. From top athletes to age groupers, and both those who made the jump from Smart Swim 1 and those who started their AR swim journey with Smart Swim 2, you simply love it and we couldn’t be happier!
The following blog post details all the thinking and execution that went into making specific design choices, decisions, and revisions, as well as how we incorporated customer feedback to ensure we iterated to make Smart Swim 2 the awesome goggles that they are today.
Integrated Heart Rate
Adding an integrated heart rate monitor, Smart Swim 2 gives athletes of all abilities constant access to their heart rate data, ensuring accurate training. We’re very proud to bring heart rate training while swimming to the masses.
The ease at which you’re now able to see your real-time heart rate data is second to none, while our temple-based solution is more accurate than using a smartwatch. Monitor your heart rate while you swim, and move from guessing how hard you’re pushing yourself to now knowing.
SwimStraight™
Alongside the launch of Smart Swim 2, we unveiled a revolutionary new feature for open water swimming, accessible on both our goggles, SwimStraight™. Constantly bringing more value to our FORM Premium, SwimStraight is the easiest way to save minutes off your race time.
Whether training or racing, SwimStraight guarantees that you don't get led astray in open water as seeing your bearings in real-time coaches you to stay on course and take the shortest (i.e. fastest) route in your race.
As mentioned in this blog post, we strongly believe in safe open-water swimming, and regular sighting is essential to this. Not only is SwimStraight the easiest way to a faster time, but it also prompts you to sight. (We honestly care about you guys and don’t want to see anyone get hurt!)
SwimStraight Improvements
Launching SwimStraight, we have loved hearing all your great open water and race day stories, and how FORM has helped you swim straighter, faster, and ultimately quicker. We also greatly appreciate all your valuable feedback on this feature.
Acting nimbly and swiftly, by August our team released an update that simplified the calibration process and addressed comments on sighting prompts, which further improved SwimStraight functionality. We always aim to be responsive to feedback so we can deliver better experiences. Please do keep the feedback coming!
HeadCoach™ Workouts
A key element of our FORM Premium offering is our great Workout feature. We started the year with thousands of workouts to choose from on the FORM App, as well as the ability to load in or create your own, there are so many ways to execute the sessions and sets you want to swim.
This year, we saw the opportunity to combine the power of HeadCoach’s data and analysis to generate HeadCoach™ Workouts based on your swimming data, delivering personal workouts tailored for you, always ready to go on your goggles. HeadCoach Workouts are designed to focus on improving Endurance, Power, or Technique.
This feature leads several powerful Workout updates that we’ve made this year. We recognize that many of you love to be guided through your sessions, so we’ve made it even easier to choose what sessions and skills to work on, so you can focus on execution and improvement.
TriDot Integration
Carrying on the Workouts theme, after many requests, in August we unveiled an exciting partnership and integration with TriDot - the award-winning artificial intelligence training platform used by coaches and athletes to optimize results.
This partnership creates a two-way bridge between both FORM and TriDot’s platforms, which upon connection enables TriDot workouts to be pushed to the FORM App. In the FORM App, users can review their upcoming TriDot workouts and sync them to their FORM goggles.
Jeff Booher, founder and CEO of TriDot, said, “Executing your sessions as intended is a key ingredient to getting faster, and this integration with FORM improves our athletes’ ability to do just that.” Partnering with TriDot has been a great addition to our Premium users this year.
End-of-Year Workout Magic
To top off a great year of new hardware and software features, we arguably saved our coolest software features until the end of the year, introducing Script in October and the ability to instantly turn a Free Swim into a guided swim workout earlier this month.
Script is our innovative new text converter that lets you create workouts from any text description. Here’s a little backstory about how Script came to life.
Last year, we launched our groundbreaking TrainingPeaks workout import feature, which proved to be an instant hit with athletes and coaches alike. Originally developed as a powerful text parser to transfer and process TrainingPeaks workouts into the FORM App, our team evolved this technology into Script—our core engine that now powers all our instant workout creation, transforming complex workout plans into guided swim sessions with ease.
With Script, now you can simply generate a workout by typing or pasting text into the Create From Text field in the FORM App, or launch your phone's camera from within the app to scan text, which will seamlessly auto-generate a workout.
Additionally, upon completing a Free Swim, we’ve now added a new button, titled ‘Create As A Guided Workout’. You can now simply tap that button to get that swim as a structured session based on the exact sets you just swam, so you can easily swim it again, guided in your goggles!

With FORM Premium, we continue to provide immense value by combining groundbreaking features like SwimStraight, HeadCoach Workouts, and our revolutionary Script tool with constant improvements driven by user feedback.
Our dedicated and nimble team remains committed to launching innovations when they’re ready and refining them based on what our users value most. This year’s updates—from hardware like Smart Swim 2 to seamless integrations like TriDot—are a testament to that commitment.
Nothing motivates us more than hearing swimmers and triathletes using FORM to help them achieve their swimming goals. Seeing our FORM Swim app trending as "Hot This Week" on the Apple App Store, and then having Smart Swim 2 listed and later sold out at Apple Stores and Apple.com was just icing on the cake.
Looking ahead, we’ll continue innovating and staying responsive, agile, and focused as we strive to deliver features, tools, and more to help you swim smarter, straighter, and faster.
